What You Need to Know
Birkenstock opened a new store on Münzstraße in Berlin’s Mitte district on September 16, 2026. The space covers about 125 square meters and the brand calls it one of its largest in Europe. The design follows an idea the company calls “Grounded in Culture.” Warm exposed concrete nods to the neighborhood’s architecture. Planters covered in moss reference the ones that lined East German streets. And you’ll see cork, jute and natural wood throughout, the same materials that go into the famous footbed.
Local makers shaped a lot of the space. Yellow Nose Studio built the seating and accessories and is hosting a workshop where you can make small wooden tags. Analog Glass created two chandeliers shaped like the footbed from glass blown by hand in Berlin. DJ collective Sound Metaphors curated the opening soundtrack, which plays through a cork H.A.N.D. HIFI sound system finished in the footbed’s signature blue. On the shelves you’ll find the classics, seasonal styles, the exclusive 1774 line and the Care Essentials collection. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Münzstraße 20.
