Earlier this year, we printed a large mural that was applied to an outdoor brick wall at the Bloomingdale School of music in New York City. The project was featured on NBC’s TV show, George to The Rescue.

Founded in 1964, Bloomingdale School of Music is dedicated to the belief that music changes lives and everyone should have access to high-quality music education regardless of economic status, race, religion, ability level, or gender.

We are proud to be one of the contractors who donated materials for this renovation.

Before and After

We worked with Evan C. Lai Landscape Design to transform the backyard brick walls for the Bloomingdale School of Music, a nonprofit community music school.

For the backyard space, we used an optically clear vinyl for the outdoor brick walls. This material uses heat to mold to the brick. The finished visual looks as if it was painted on the wall.

The Process

The project was featured on an episode for George to the Rescue, a home improvement show that helps deserving communities and families with renovations. This episode of George to the Rescue aired in April 2020.

Professional Installation

The total size of the graphic was 252”w x 108”h. This was split into 5 pieces. We coordinated the professional installation, which was completed in October 2019. (Professional installation is recommended on all orders of Brick Wrap).

Material and Process

We chose to use our Clear Brick Wrap vinyl due to the fine details in the artwork, and its undulating shape verses a full coverage design. Instead of having to contour cut out every small design element, which can make installation difficult, the clear material allows the fine detail to be surrounded by material for stability.

Outdoor Signage

The areas around the artwork in clear vinyl allow the existing painted brick to be visible.  The clear material also allows for transparencies and solid to clear gradients. The mural’s paint like appearance, shape and bright colors create a large impact in this music school’s backyard.

We are extremely grateful for 40 VISUALS contribution to the George to the Rescue project and we think the mural and wrap came out amazing.
