Located just off the most-walked street in the US, Burdeen’s Jewelry, a Chicago-area high-end jewelry store, is renovating the space ahead of their new flagship store opening at 120 E. Oak Street, right next to Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. The new location is undergoing a complete renovation, transforming the former bank into a two-story multi-brand experience, specializing in high-end timepieces and watches from top brands like IWC Schaffhausen, Panerai, Omega, Tudor, Breitling and more.

Along with construction projects comes the typical dust and disarray of a work in progress. To conceal the renovation from the public, Burdeen’s used a 56’ x 28’ wide plywood structure to provide a barrier. The structure was wrapped in MotoMark adhesive vinyl wall covering to inform the high-traffic area of the new Burdeen’s Jewelry location and the brands they carry.

How to Create and Install Construction Signage

The artwork covers the sides of the structure in addition to the 56’ of road frontage, making for a total graphic width of 74’. The sides of the structure follow the same white-on-black design as the rest of the graphic, listing a few of the brands carried by the store on each side. The front features hero images for IWC and Panerai along with the store’s logo. Later on, the store opted to add a 25” QR code to the front of the building that directs traffic to a page on the website with info and updates about the new store.

The graphic was printed on MotoMark and professionally installed on the wood structure by Applied Graphics & Signs. The installation took two nights and a lift to complete the job. Because of the high street traffic volume, the installation had to take place overnight, when foot traffic is lighter. MotoMark was the ideal choice for applications like this, providing enough adhesion to stick to the porous wooden surface while being durable enough to withstand rain and the hot summer sun. MotoMark is specifically designed to perform well on rough-textured surfaces such as wood. One of its standout features is its high-bond permanent adhesive, which ensures a robust and enduring grip on surfaces that typically resist standard adhesives. Wood, with its uneven texture and innate surface inconsistencies, can be challenging for ordinary vinyl wraps, often leading to peeling or imperfect adhesion. MotoMark, however, navigates these challenges with ease due to its exceptional adhesive qualities, rendering it a prime choice for applications on wood and other rough-textured materials.

Why Should You Put Outdoor Signage at Construction Sites

Signage for construction projects plays a crucial role in multiple aspects, from safety to branding. At the most fundamental level, these signs are pivotal in providing clear instructions and warnings to both construction workers and the public, ensuring that risks are minimized and safety protocols are clear. Beyond the safety realm, signage can also act as a powerful marketing and informational tool. For businesses, wrapping construction barricades or fences with branded signage can generate anticipation for a new store or building, turning what might be an eyesore into an engaging advertisement. 40 VISUALS has many print options available for construction signage, from mesh prints for fencing, adhesive vinyl for surfaces or vinyl banners for any area, we can transform your construction area into an appealing space that makes a positive impression on your audience.
