Perforated vinyl is a popular and cost-effective window signage solution for stores looking to maximize their window space without sacrificing outside visibility. Perforated window signage is a game-changing solution that has transformed how businesses think about window space. Windows are often an underutilized and overlooked signage zone, but there is high potential because of the large amount of surface area and overall affordability. In this blog, we’ll look at how it works, the different types, and how this type of vinyl window signage can benefit your space.

What is Perforated Vinyl?

Perforated vinyl is a special kind of one-way window signage film that has tiny holes in it. These holes allow people inside a building to see out, while those outside see a vibrant graphic. It’s a fantastic way to use your windows for signage without blocking light or the view from inside. This makes perforated vinyl window film perfect for businesses wanting to advertise or increase privacy while branding their space.

How Does Window Perforated Vinyl Work?

The magic of perforated vinyl lies in its unique design. The vinyl is covered in tiny, precisely spaced holes (perforations). From the outside, eyes catch the light reflected off the printed side, showing the graphic. From the inside, the light coming through the holes allows clear visibility outward. It’s like a one-way mirror, but with the added bonus of displaying vibrant designs that get noticed. This one-way perforated window vinyl technology ensures your window doesn’t sacrifice natural light or visibility.

Different Types of Perforated Vinyl

There are a few different perforated vinyl products, each suited to different needs and preferences:

First Surface 80/20

This common type has 80% of the area covered by vinyl and 20% perforated. It’s great for vibrant exterior images with a good inside view looking out. This window vinyl is placed on the exterior glass facing outwards.

Second Surface 80/20

Similar to the first surface film, but designed to be placed on the interior glass facing outward and can be easier to install in some scenarios.

Micro-Perf 60/40

This type has a higher percentage of holes (40%) compared to vinyl (60%), offering enhanced visibility from the inside while still supporting high-quality images. The smaller holes of the Micro-Perf lead to improved clarity and image quality compared to other 60/40 films with larger perforations.
