What You Need to Know
A giant record player sculpture is turning heads near the Javits Center in New York City as part of the out-of-home campaign for the Michael Jackson biopic. The oversized installation features a motorized spinning arm, a gold record printed on reflective metallic vinyl and face-lit channel letters spelling out “Michael,” the film’s title. The structure glows at night and actually plays music, making it as much a sensory experience as a visual one. The edges are wrapped in dark wood-textured vinyl to give the whole piece a retro look that nods to the era the film celebrates.
The project was designed by Experiential Supply Co, with fabrication and installation handled by The Factory NYC. It’s the kind of out-of-home execution that goes beyond a standard billboard by giving people something to stop and interact with.
