What You Need to Know

Sephora announced the global rollout of its Quiet Hours initiative, making it the first beauty retailer to offer the program at scale across all regions where it operates. During Quiet Hours, stores turn down the music, dim the lights and adjust screens to create a calmer atmosphere with fewer distractions. The initiative was shaped by listening to the neurodiversity community, including organizations Open Inclusion and Purposeful Futures, as well as internal employee resource groups. A pilot across 32 stores in 8 markets showed strong results, with 90% of customers saying Quiet Hours made Sephora stores more inclusive and welcoming and most neurodivergent shoppers saying it significantly improved their experience.

The program is designed to benefit anyone who prefers a more peaceful shopping environment, not just neurodivergent customers. Sephora Beauty Advisors also responded positively, with staff noting that the calmer environment helped them build stronger connections with customers. The rollout reaches Sephora’s community of 80 million beauty fans worldwide and reflects the brand’s broader commitment to building more welcoming in-store environments.
