Located right in the heart of Chicago’s Loop area, neighboring the iconic Willis Tower, is the Hilton Garden Inn, an upscale hotel within walking distance to Chicago’s best attractions. To compliment the hotel’s restaurant, business center, fitness area and other amenities, the hotel revitalized its courtyard area. The courtyard decor creates a relaxing vibe with outdoor lounge seating, patio flooring, string lights and a beautiful 81-foot brick wrap mural along the west wall to infuse the space with vibrancy and charm.

Brick wrap is the perfect choice for this project compared to traditional paint due to its versatility with artwork, ease of installation, durability and resistance to fading, and ability to remove the graphic later if needed. Using printed vinyl designed for rough textures like brick allows for more versatility with the artwork and the ability to print more intricate designs that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to produce with paint. With the nature of the brick wrap material, the rough surface of the wall still shows through for that painted-on look. Vinyl brick wrap media is thicker and more adhesive than our smooth-surface vinyl product, which means it holds up better in areas with extreme weather conditions. Brick wrap can also be removed without any damage to the wall itself, which is done by simply heating the vinyl to soften the adhesive and then peeling the vinyl off in sections. This is ideal for any changes in branding, leased spaces, or if you just want to refresh your look.

The artwork for the panoramic mural features a brushed graphic of a city skyline alongside a river with boats in the water. The composition shows a stunning blend of vibrant colors from the water and sunset, and details for the buildings and cityscape that immediately capture attention. The bold brushstrokes and layered textures adds a sense of dynamism and energy to the overall piece. This artwork sparks curiosity and imagination, and perfectly compliments the courtyard features and design aesthetic.

The installation process took a team two long days to complete. The 81-foot-wide print was divided into 20 panels, carefully lined up with one another to produce the brick wrap mural. The process of installing vinyl brick wrap involves the use of heat, at a minimum temperature of 850 degrees, along with a roller tool to securely attach the vinyl to the wall surface. Before installation, it is essential to thoroughly power wash the brick surfaces to eliminate any dirt or particles that may hinder the adhesive vinyl from forming a strong bond with the wall. Once the wall is completely dry, the vinyl is carefully aligned and initially affixed to the wall. To ensure a seamless finish, the vinyl is then fully adhered to the wall using heat and a roller tool, allowing it to conform to the rough texture and contours of the brick surface, resulting in a visually seamless appearance that looks like it was painted on the wall.

The revitalization of the courtyard at Hilton Garden Inn in Chicago has transformed the area into a captivating space in the heart of the city. The 81-foot brick wrap mural has infused the area with vibrancy and charm, perfectly complementing the hotel’s amenities and design aesthetic. Brick wrap proved to be the ideal choice for this project due to its versatility, ease of installation, durability, and ability to remove the graphic if necessary. The artwork itself, featuring a breathtaking city skyline and river scene, captivates viewers with its vibrant colors, bold brushstrokes, and layered textures. The meticulous professional installation process ensures a seamless finish that will last years to come and provides guests with a memorable experience that will keep them coming back.
