What You Need to Know

Aldi finished out 2025 by opening 22 stores in December, bringing their total store openings for the year to more than 175 stores. The latest new locations sit in 10 states, including Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York and Ohio, with most in Florida. These openings follow a late November push when Aldi opened 16 stores in a single day.

The rapid expansion comes from Aldi’s acquisition and conversion of over 220 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket sites. Of the 22 newest stores, 12 in Florida are former Winn-Dixie locations, plus one in Alabama and one in Louisiana. If you live in those markets you will see converted storefronts replacing former Winn-Dixie sites.
