What You Need to Know
Carhartt has opened its first New York City flagship in the Flatiron District, marking a major milestone for the 136-year-old Michigan-based workwear brand. The 5,000-square-foot store at 936 Broadway was chosen for its proximity to the city’s large community of tradespeople—carpenters, electricians, and builders—who remain Carhartt’s core customers. This is the company’s 57th global location and part of a plan to reach 100 stores by 2030, focusing on sites that align with its rugged, utilitarian identity.
The flagship features Carhartt’s full range of durable workwear, with expanded space for womenswear, now 20–25% of the assortment, to serve the growing number of women in the trades. To celebrate the opening, visitors can receive a limited-edition NYC-branded K87 pocket T-shirt. Chief Brand Officer Susan Hennike emphasized that while the store welcomes fashion shoppers drawn to Carhartt’s cultural influence, authenticity and product performance remain central to the brand. Unlike the fashion-forward Carhartt WIP stores in SoHo and Williamsburg, this Flatiron location stays true to the brand’s workwear roots.
