What You Need to Know

Moleskine opened a 280-square-foot boutique on New York’s Upper East Side. The shop serves as the brand’s first neighborhood concept in the US and signals a change in its American retail approach. It is Moleskine’s sixth boutique in Manhattan and one of 12 US stores. The company will open more locations this year and renovate others.

The Lexington Avenue store sits in a prewar luxury apartment building with a Gothic-inspired facade. You will find an embossing and personalization machine placed where passersby can see it and a new signature wall of notebooks in the window. Moleskine first tested the neighborhood idea at Moynihan Train Hall in late 2023, and it uses partnerships, such as a limited journal collection with Anthropologie and YoungArts alumni, to reach students and artists. The brand also sells through wholesale partners including Barnes and Noble, Target, Nordstrom, Walmart and independent bookstores.
