What is vinyl brick wrap?

Vinyl brick wrap, also sometimes called rough wrap, is a type of adhesive vinyl wall covering that adheres to rough-textured surfaces, such as brick walls. This can be used on brick, cinder block walls and sealed smooth concrete. Brick wrap is often used in outdoor applications with its UV protection and weather-resistant properties, but can be used either indoors or outdoors. Vinyl brick wrap is unique because it shows the texture of the rough brick surface, which gives it a painted-on appearance.

Benefits of Vinyl Brick Wrap for Brick Walls

Vinyl brick wrap for rough-textured walls has many advantages over painted walls due to its versatility. Here are just a few of them:

More Versatility with Artwork

Because brick wrap vinyl media is printed instead of painted, you have a lot more freedom with your designs. With vinyl wrap, you’re able to print more intricate things like images, logos and other three-dimensional graphics and designs that would be difficult or otherwise not possible with paint. This results in a cleaner and clearer appearance that makes your empty wall more consistent with your brand.

Non-Permanent and Easily Removable

One huge advantage to brick wrap instead of paint is that it is not permanent and can be easily removed without any damage to the wall itself. This is done by simply heating the vinyl to soften the adhesive and then peeling the vinyl off in sections. This is ideal for any changes in branding, leased spaces, or if you just want to refresh your look.

Preserves the Texture of the Wall

The vinyl material is malleable and flexible, which allows it to conform to the rough texture of the wall. This preserves all the cracks and crevices of the brick texture and maintains the character of the space. Maintaining the texture of the wall gives it that painted-on look with all the design benefits of brick wrap.

Long-Lasting, Even in Harsh Climates

Our rough-textured vinyl brick wrap media is thicker than our smooth-surface adhesive vinyl product, which makes it remarkably durable and hold up better in areas exposed to rain and snow, high-traffic public spaces, and regions with extreme hot and cold weather.

Resistant to Fading

We use UV technology to print on our vinyl media, which makes the print resistant to fading, so colors will be more accurate for years to come. This also makes the print much more durable in challenging climates while maintaining a bright and vibrant color profile that brands love.

How is brick wrap used?

Vinyl brick wrap for rough-textured surfaces can be used in a variety of ways including murals, storefront signage, wayfinding, columns and pillars, and more. Murals are one of the most popular applications for brick wrap because it has a variety of benefits compared to paint but still maintains the painted-on look. Brick wrap can also be used for storefront signage to match the character and branding of certain brands or to wrap columns and pillars, like we did here.

How is vinyl brick wrap installed?

Vinyl brick wrap is installed by using heat, at a minimum of 850 degrees, and a roller to firmly adhere the vinyl to the wall. Prior to installation, brick surfaces need to be power washed to remove any surface dirt or other particles that may prevent a strong bond between the adhesive vinyl and the wall. Once the wall is completely dry, the vinyl is lined up and affixed to the wall for the initial placement. To complete the installation, the vinyl is fully adhered to the wall using heat and a roller tool, which allows the vinyl to mold to all the contours of the rough texture, making it look like a painted wall.

Can vinyl brick wrap be removed?

Yes! To remove vinyl brick wrap, the material will need to be heated to loosen the bond with the adhesive, then the wrap can be peeled away from the wall in strips, leaving the brick wall damage-free without any residue left behind.

Can I install vinyl brick wrap myself?

While it is possible to self-install some vinyl brick wrap applications, it is not recommended. Professional installation is ideal for ensuring your vinyl brick wrap lasts for years without any issues. While it may seem like a straightforward process, vinyl brick wrap requires a certain level of expertise and experience to ensure that the final product looks seamless and is properly installed. Our network of professional installers will have the necessary tools and knowledge to properly fit the vinyl to the rough surface of your wall. With professional installation, you can rest assured that your vinyl brick wrap will not only look great but will also stand up to the test of time, protecting your investment for years to come.
