The graphics filling entire walls and pillars throughout the stadium corridors highlight information and imagery of the cities attractions.

What is Brick Wrap Vinyl?

Brick Wrap Vinyl installed on interior or exterior bricks using heat it looks like a hand-painted mural as it molds into the contours of the textured surface. The vinyl material is available in opaque white or clear. The white material, used in this stadium project, gives the appearance of solid coats of paint. Clear material can be used to create intricate designs that look cutout, as used in this project, or to vary the transparency of colors. Applying vinyl graphics to brick and concrete is unique way to utilize large spaces that are traditionally left out as signage display areas.

Rough Wall Vinyl Wrap Welcomes and Engages Crowds

Upon entering the stadium and visitors ascending the ramp into the stadium are welcomed with large bright colored graphics. The ramp walls were covered in print sizes ranging from 420″w x 240″h to 420″w x 128″h. Once applied with heat the brick wrap give the appearance of paint on the cinderblock walls, but unlike paint allows for crisp highly legible text and high resolution photographic imagery.

Walls in the concessions area were also covered with murals about the Magic City. These are not your average murals though, using AR technology the murals become interactive. Instructions were also applied to next to the graphics showing visitors how to make the magic of Birmingham come alive to take selfies in front of the mural backdrops.

Brick Wall Murals Are Made for Selfies

Selfie walls are a perfect use for rough brick vinyl murals, as printed murals can be taken to the next level with interactive Augmented Reality (AR) technology. The city of Birmingham’s Protective Stadium is now home to some of the most innovative and fun selfie walls in the country.

High definition printing on the brick wrap vinyl allowed the interactive elements to function. The end result is a one of a kind vinyl mural project that is sure to be a hit with stadium goers.

Vinyl Applied to Concrete Makes the Most of Support Pillars

Wrapping stadium pillars is a great way to add interest and bring attention to areas that are typically left blank, as can be seen in these before and after images.

More than 100 32″w x 96″h graphic panels with different artwork highlighting tourist attractions and or historical places of interests were installed on pillars throughout the concourse. This is a great example of vinyl being used in a unique way to create an immersive and engaging experience for stadium guests.

How are rough surface vinyl graphics installed?

The brick wrap vinyl graphics at the stadium were installed by our team of professional installers over the coarse of 4 days. The process for installation is as follows:

  1. Check the weather, temperatures must be above 45ºF and dry for 24 hours prior to application of vinyl.
  2. Start by cleaning the surface to remove any dirt, dust or loose debris.
  3. Position and begin to remove liner and press down with a soft rubber roller.
  4. Using a heat gun at a minimum temperature of 1,000ºF apply heat and roll to conform vinyl to the brick surface.
  5. Continue working from the top down to complete. Go back and apply additional heat and roll any areas that may have been missed.
  6. As the vinyl cools the adhesive sets for an end result that looks truly painted on.

Are brick wrap vinyl graphics removable?

Yes, vinyl graphics can be removed without damaging the underlying surface or leaving sticky residue. The removal process is much like the installation process. The vinyl is heated with a heat gun which softens the adhesive allowing it to release when pulled. The vinyl can then be removed in large sheets, depending on how long it has been up it may be more brittle and come off in smaller sections. We can also schedule professional installers for the removal of graphics.

Do vinyl graphics for textured surfaces last?

Brick wrap vinyl graphics can last for years when installed properly. The vinyl is made to withstand the elements and resist fading. Exposure to sunlight and extreme temperatures will cause the vinyl to degrade over time. However, the vinyl is printed with UV inks which provides added protection against the suns harmful rays. The vinyl can also be cleaned with mild soap and water (no power washers) without damaging the graphic.
