In the charming town of Chisholm, Minnesota, an ordinary brick wall has now been transformed into a beautiful brick wrap mural. As a part of the Chisholm Downtown Revitalization Project, we worked with artist Lindsay Kivi to bring her artwork to life with a huge brick wrap mural installed on a boring brick wall. In this blog, we’ll look at why brick wrap is the perfect choice for this project, dive into the artwork and learn more about the artist behind it.

Why Brick Wrap is Perfect for This Project

When looking at ways to bring life into a space, vinyl wall wrap is a popular choice, especially for a rough-textured surface like brick. The brick wall vinyl is not just durable and long-lasting, but also brings out the vibrancy of colors and intricate details of the artwork. Once fully adhered to the brick using heat and a vinyl roller, the brick wrap material shows the texture of the brick for a painted-on look and has many other benefits over using paint for murals. The wrap was divided into four panels, allowing a local installer to seamlessly apply the graphic onto the building, showcasing the artwork in all its glory.

A Deep Dive into the Artwork

Spanning 16’ x 12’, this building graphic stands out on the west-facing exterior wall of First National Bank in the Chisholm downtown area. The graphic was originally a smaller painting that was digitized and printed on vinyl, which allowed the graphic to be enlarged up to 192 square feet. The scene features a deer on top of a large rock in a forest with a sun setting behind it and is a breathtaking rendition of the area’s natural beauty. The harmonious play of complementary colors with blue, purple, and orange hues adds depth and contrast to the artwork. The artist behind this piece is local Chisholm native Lindsay Kivi.

Getting to Know Lindsay Kivi

Lindsay Kivi’s journey in the world of art is one of passion and dedication. Born and raised in Chisholm, Kivi studied fashion and art at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The bustling streets of New York called out to her following her graduation, where she worked in the fashion and apparel industry. But, as the saying goes, “Home is where the heart is.” Lindsay returned to Minnesota and continued her work in the corporate world until she left her job in 2019 to pursue her passion for art and painting. After a friend requested her to paint their pet, she started painting custom portraits of pets, which carried her to where she is today. Kivi continues her popular pet portraits and is also venturing deeper into the world of art with commercial projects and exploring the therapeutic touch of Reiki in artwork.

The brick wrap job in Chisholm is not just a testament to the power of art in urban spaces but also the incredible potential of signage products like brick wrap. For artists looking to showcase their work in large outdoor spaces and for businesses keen on sprucing up their walls, vinyl brick wrap and other wall covering products are a perfect choice.
