In the heart of downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue, also known as the Magnificent Mile, the competition for attention is fierce. This iconic, high-traffic street attracts millions of visitors each year, making it essential for retailers on the one-mile stretch to take advantage of high volume with effective retail store signage. The North Face turned to 40 VISUALS to create a large window display with SEG (silicone edge graphics) fabric graphics to perfectly showcase their brand. With two lifestyle images displayed in an SEG fabric lightbox, these graphics capture the attention of shoppers and adventurers walking by and increase brand exposure.

Producing High-Quality SEG Lightbox Displays

To meet the demands of this high-traffic area, we produced two 11-foot-wide by 8.5-foot-tall SEG backlit fabric displays for The North Face using premium woven backlit fabric. SEG fabric was chosen for its crisp details and versatility, making it perfect for dye-sublimation printing. Dye-sublimation allows for deep color saturation and durability, resulting in backlit graphics that stand the test of time.

Each fabric print was laser-cut to fit the dimensions of the lightbox. Silicone beading was then sewn around the edges, which tucks into the SEG lightbox channel, ensuring a tight, smooth fit. The result is a flawless backlit display that draws in eyes and traffic from the busy street, day and night.

Making an Impact with SEG Backlit Displays

With Michigan Avenue’s high traffic and competitive visual landscape, having a display that stands out is important. SEG fabric lightboxes are effective signage displays for retail stores, providing a large advertising canvas for brands. They’re particularly valuable in high-traffic environments where the display needs to make a quick, memorable impact. These graphics highlight different aspects of The North Face brand, with one image featuring two people at the top of a mountain, while the other shows a man driving with his dog in a truck, with the tagline “Adapt to anywhere.”

Another benefit of SEG fabric graphics is their ease of interchangeability. When new campaigns or seasonal collections come around, the fabric prints can be easily swapped out, keeping the display fresh and relevant. This flexibility allows retail locations to update visuals without investing in a new setup, making SEG backlit displays an efficient, long-term signage solution.
