What You Need to Know

Dior opened the Bamboo Pavilion in Tokyo’s Daikanyama district, a 19,375 square foot multilevel luxury store blending Japanese culture with French craftsmanship. The exterior draws inspiration from Japanese bamboo forests with gold-hued wood that lights up at night. Inside, the store features Versailles-style parquet flooring and walls finished in washi paper. The retail space offers women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, bags, leather goods, shoes and jewelry along with furniture designs from Japanese artists including Sho Ota, Hana Mitsui and Takt Project.

The complex includes a cafe decorated by floral artist Azuma Makoto and serving a menu created by Michelin-starred French chef Anne-Sophie Pic. Surrounding the building is an outdoor garden designed by landscape designer Seijun Nishihata following Zen principles. The store represents what Dior calls a fusion of culture and craftsmanship, bringing together the brand’s French heritage with Japanese design traditions.
