What You Need to Know
Walmart has launched a “first-of-its-kind” contactless Auto Care Center experience, debuting its pilot location in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with nine more set to open this year in Texas, Georgia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The update lets customers handle nearly every step of car maintenance through the Walmart app—from scheduling and check-in to live service tracking and payment. The move is designed to merge digital convenience with in-store expertise, giving customers a faster, more seamless experience.
Through the app, users book appointments under “Auto Services,” check in when they arrive, drop keys in a secure locker, and receive real-time updates until their vehicle is ready. Walmart, which has offered auto services since 1979 and now operates 2,582 Auto Care Centers, says the new system saves customers time while maintaining affordability, with tire services starting at $5 and oil changes at $27. Senior VP Tracy Poulliot said the initiative reflects Walmart’s goal to “make life easier every day,” positioning the app as a one-stop tool for shopping, healthcare, and now, car care.
